" On September 27, the day of my wedding, my six bridesmaids, my mother, my godmother and I spent the day at Aprile's. I cannot think of a better way to spend the day of your wedding! We were greeted with champagne, juice or water in wine glasses and we sat down outside at the table under the umbrella to work on the seating arrangements. Lorraine was perfectly prompt and two of the girls went in to get their hair washed, heads massaged and their hair set.
I felt pampered and coddled all day, just as a bride should! Lorraine's assistant washed my hair, then put in the warm curlers. Lorraine put up my hair with a veil comb and it looked simply astonishing! Her assistant did my make-up, exactly the way I wanted her to (not too much or too heavy, but enough to make a difference in the pictures). We rotated between relaxing upstairs and last minute work that needed to be done out on the veranda. Lorraine and her staff even offered to order lunch for us!
It was the perfect start to the perfect day. I would recommend it to absolutely any bride!"

What a girl wants, what a girl needs...
Every time I heard that Christina Aguilera song I thought, “Ya know….every girl wants and needs a phenomenal hair stylist!” It’s true!! After spending much time and money trolling the various local places, including those that have 8-10 shampoo stations and about a gazillion stylists. I wanted something more personal–more tailored to my own style, and a place where I felt comfortable, relaxed and, yeah, special! I finally stumbled upon Lorraine Aprile Salon conveniently located, no less, at 112 S. Fayette Street in OT.
The salon is a cute little OT townhouse. Let’s say you walk in on a cold, drizzly day–no worries! Not only are you greeted warmly–oh no….they don’t stop there at THIS place. They have a station where you can make yourself a nice hot cup of coffee or tea, a red velvet couch to fall into, and a roaring fire going. Hello! Heaven!!! There is one shampoo station here, but don’t fret. The scheduling is not just done carefully, but also thoughtfully–taking into account that you have a busy life too, and they’re not going to keep you waiting. Each and every time I’ve ever been there, I’ve been seen right on time.
Lorraine is the owner and has been my stylist for many months now, and she is terrific. She has all the qualities of a stylist that most women want: she listens to what you want, she’s a fantastic colorist, she has a great personality (the English accent adds charm!), and she does a terrific haircut that is so easy to keep up yourself at home. My husband asks me at least once a week if I’ve been to the salon when in reality I’ve just washed and styled my own hair! She is that good.
So if you’re looking for your “Forever Salon,” mosey on over to Lorraine Aprile Salon: 112 S. Fayette Street (703-299-6100). Oh, did I mention they’re open Monday-Sunday? Yah. Uh-huh. Every day. And three days a week they’re open until 8PM. See? I told you. Heaven. Go there. You’ll be glad you did.

My best friends and and I arrived early in the morning to the salon and were greeted not only by Lorraine and her friendly staff, but by hot coffee and homemade bread. Lorraine and her staff work hard not only to create beautiful hair, but a chic, inviting, and relaxing atmosphere as well. There is always great music playing and Lorraine's fabulous eye for photography is revealed all over the walls. The salon itself is in a restored townhouse in classic Old Town Alexandria style complete with sunny back porch where my friends and I were able to drink champagne while waiting for our curlers to set! My hair was exquisite - I got compliments on it all night long.
I could not have asked for a better time, and I will always be a loyal customer to a salon that is a cut above!"

I went to Lorraine Aprile salon for a hair cut. I had an absolutely wonderful experience from the moment I stepped through the door. The lady at the desk is most welcoming and friendly. Jessica, the stylist who cut my hair, is very kind, personable and knowledgeable without being overly chatty. She suggested a leave-in conditioner for my hair, but was not at all pushy about buying product. The salon prices are very reasonable and I feel like the quality of the cut is fabulous! I definitely recommend this salon. I will certainly be back on a regular basis!
